Department of Public Law

The establishment of the Department of Law began with the introduction of the Master’s Program in Law as a graduate program within the Department of Judiciary and Sharia Policy at the College of Sharia in 1428 AH. Subsequently, the Department of Law was established as an independent department separate from the Department of Judiciary and Sharia Policy at the College of Sharia on 14/11/1430 AH, with the approval of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, the Prime Minister and Chairman of the Council of Higher Education, based on the minutes of the fifty-sixth session of the Council of Higher Education held on 22/10/1430 AH.

The Department of Law and the Department of Judiciary and Sharia Policy were subsequently established as independent departments within the College of Law and Judicial Studies, which included the Departments of Law and Judicial Studies. More recently, the College became the College of Law and Economics pursuant to University Council Resolution No. (2/16/45), dated 12/03/1445 AH.

The Law specialization at the College of Law and Economics at the Islamic University of Madinah aims to prepare specialists in law and legal systems to achieve a high level of excellence, enrich the academic field through specialized legal research, and contribute to preparing qualified graduates in the field of law.

The subjects covered by the Bachelor’s Program in Law within the Department of Law vary and include a range of topics in Islamic sciences, such as Principles of Islamic Jurisprudence and Sharia Policy, as well as legal sciences, including Criminal Law, International Law, Commercial Law, and Constitutional Law.

Students in the Department of Law at the College of Law and Economics at the Islamic University of Madinah receive intensive practical training throughout their studies, including legal academic and professional training courses in areas such as dispute resolution skills, legal research, contract drafting, as well as workshops and activities organized by the College throughout the academic year.

The College of Law and Economics at the Islamic University of Madinah is committed to providing its students with opportunities to engage with government and private-sector entities, as well as experts and specialists in the field, through reciprocal visits and various lectures. Through these opportunities, students are able to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary for success in their professional careers.

The Department of Law at the Islamic University of Madinah aspires to become a center of academic and research excellence. It strives to encourage students to research, explore, and address legal challenges through scientific research programs and workshops under the supervision of distinguished faculty members at the College.

The College’s graduate programs in law provide students with opportunities to pursue legal studies in greater depth, whether by obtaining a Master’s degree in Law or a Doctoral degree in various legal specializations.
